Wellness & Preventative Care
At Hickory Grove Animal Hospital, our veterinarians in Charlotte believe that and preventative care form the foundation for a happy, healthy life for your pet. For this reason, we are proud to provide comprehensive wellness and preventative care in Charlotte. From a thorough hands-on examination to routine lab services to monitor your pet’s ongoing health, we provide all of the services necessary to help keep your companion healthy.

Our Wellness & Preventative Care Services
Charlotte veterinarian Dr. Sherry Huskey recommends bringing your pet in for a wellness exam every six months if they are healthy. More frequent exams are often recommended for pets suffering from chronic health issues, pain, injuries, or for pets on chronic medications. Bringing your pet to the vet twice a year for exams makes it much easier for us to detect health problems early and begin treatment promptly.
When you bring your dog or cat in for wellness care, we will provide a multitude of services. We begin with a physical examination during which we inspect your pet from the end of their nose to the tip of their tail and assess their condition. We also weigh your pet and discuss their nutritional intake and energy levels and take a look at their teeth. Pet wellness panels are recommended, too, because they provide us with additional information regarding your companion’s overall health and condition.
If we detect any signs of illness or health problems during the exam, we may need to schedule another appointment for a more thorough examination, diagnosis, and treatment. Most minor issues, however, can be addressed during your pet’s wellness appointment.
